This is a thank-you to all the parents — for the gift of your presence. Thank you for coming, for celebrating with us.

I've been on Vashon for a little over two weeks now, and having everyone here was a blessing. Togetherness is what makes community strong, and what makes relationships — and the world — more loving. Focusing that love on Kaiona is going to mean the world to her when she's older, when she comes back to this page and sees the pictures and the thoughts and the wishes and the dreams and the feelings.

So whatever you want to tell her six-year-old self — leave it here. Leave her a memory, a thought, a dream, a story, a joke, a picture, a video, anything you feel called to. So she can come back and remember how loved she was.

I wish that for her. I wish that for you and yours. All your relations.
